I’m back with my 50 States Wrapped series and today’s post will cover New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Ohio! I will continue to add books from each state. If you missed the previous parts to this series, you can check my posts about Alabama-California, Colorado-Georgia, Hawaii-Iowa, Kansas-Maryland, Massachusetts-Missouri, and Montana-New Jersey.
New Mexico
The first time I was in New Mexico was on a plane stop on my way to Arizona, but I was happy to visit for real on our way back from Utah in 2019. We visited the Four Points Monument, the Taos Pueblo, Taos, and the Rio Grande River Gorge Bridge.

I don’t think I’ve read any! Have you?
New York
Growing up in NJ, my dad worked in New York City, and my earliest memory of visiting was with him, when he took me on the train to see Sesame Street Live at Madison Square Garden! I often went to the city to see various museums, shows, etc. throughout school. And I even went to grad school in the city. Now, we often visit when we are visiting our family. I have also visited a friend in the Adirondack area and Dave’s sister has a place in the Catskills, but our main New York visits happen in NYC.
Just a few of the places we’ve visited include the Statue of Liberty, the Freedom Tower, the 9-11 Museum, Roosevelt Island, the Vessel, the MOMA, the Brooklyn Bridge, etc.
When searching my blog for New York, I found much more, including this cute post from when the kids were little.

As opposed to New Mexico, there are tons! Especially ones that feature NYC. Here are a few I read recently.
North Carolina
The first time I was in North Carolina, the kids and I were staying in South Carolina and we drove half an hour to North Caroline to have lunch and to say we’d been there! Then we visited Asheville and the Smoky Mountains in 2021. We also visited the Biltmore Estate.
Books set in North Carolina:
North Dakota
North Dakota was Dave’s 50th state, but it was my 49th! We visited Fargo in 2020 as a place to go and say we’ve been there. We went to the zoo and the air museum.

I once again don’t think I have read any! I’ll have to get on that.
Ohio
The first time I was in Ohio was for my cousin’s bar mitzvah in Columbus when I was in 6th grade. We also visited my aunt and uncle there on our way to Kansas when we moved here (and later they stopped at our house when they moved to Las Vegas!). We also went to Cleveland on our way to NJ on one of our road trips. One of my all time favorite pictures of my kids is from there!

Have you been to any of these 5 states?
