The day before we left for Florida, it snowed here in Kansas. The morning we left? It was approximately 3 degrees outside! We had an early flight and we left extra early to allow for the not-so-great road conditions, but we made it to the airport just fine! Before I recap our trip, I have to share these first snow pictures!
So, we were very happy that it was a high temperature in Orlando – perfect for swimming! We stayed at the Swan hotel – we have stayed in the Dolphin a few times, but this was our first time at the Swan. These hotels are technically on Disney property, but they aren’t fully Disney hotels, so while there is transportation to the Disney Parks, there is not included transportation from the airport, and you don’t get Magic Bands, so you still have regular Disney tickets. However, you can still book your fast passes 60 days out, so I liked having that benefit!
Before going swimming, we wanted to take a quick walk to Disney’s Boardwalk area. The boys put on their swimsuits right away, and I found them like this:
The hotels were all decorated for Christmas. This was the Swan’s chocolate train display!
I brought along my Mickey Mouse dreidel and took photos of it in random places in Disney World!
I also like the various garbage cans you can see in Disney!
And light fixtures! This one is in the Boardwalk hotel.
This sign was low to the ground and we thought it was rather funny!
The pool – The Swan and Dolphin share a pool area and it’s pretty big. The water was nice and warm too!
Later that evening, we headed over to Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney. We looked around in some stores, watched the Drone Show, and did some pin trading!
Looks like waffles, but they are pretend!
A piano that rides around while it’s played.
There was this area that had different decorated Christmas trees that I wanted to check out. It wasn’t all that impressive, but a few photos anyway:
These are the decorations at the Dolphin – they were nicer than the ones at the Swan!
And before we made it back to our hotel for the night, we caught some fireworks! They might have been from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but I’m not sure!
So that was Day 1! Next time I’ll start sharing our time in the actual parks!
