I think I’m a little off on calling the weeks of Gabbie’s trip by week numbers – I think in my last post I covered parts of weeks 2 and 3! But this post picks up after the free weekend, which was the 3rd weekend of the trip, so let’s just say this is week 3 and that this week the group was in southern Israel, which is my favorite part of the country!
The week began at Sde Boker where they hung out and took pictures at sunset over the desert. It looks a bit like the surface of the moon!
The stars in the desert are amazing!
The next day they went sand surfing, which sounds like fun – but sandy.
After that was Eilat – the southernmost city in Israel, right across the Red Sea from Jordan. They spent most of the day in the water!
The kids were divided into small groups and Gabbie’s group was called Eilat, so they took a picture of the group in Eilat.
Next up was another sea – the Dead Sea. (Israel is surrounded by seas – the Sea of Galilee, the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, and the Dead Sea! Plus the Jordan River!)
But first, a hike at the Ein Gedi waterfalls.
That night, they “camped” at the Bedouin tents, which is a must experience on Israel tours – and I did the same thing on my trip 25 years ago! They also rode camels there.
They had an early morning wake up to head to Masada for the sunrise hike – again, a very important part of any Israel tour!
The last few days of the trip (or week 4) took place in the Jerusalem area, so that’s what I’ll share next time!
