Two weeks ago, we took a family trip to Washington DC. I have been there many times before, and Gabbie and Zachary have even been there before, but they were pretty young at the time and didn’t remember much of it. They requested that we go there as a small trip before heading to NJ for a wedding, so we did! Over the next few weeks I will be sharing our trip here.
Our first stop was actually on the grounds of the airport – The Udvar-Hazy Center which is the companion facility to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. There are two hangars with aviation and space artifacts and you can even see the space shuttle Discovery. There is also an Observation Tower where you can watch planes taking off and landing at Dulles Airport.
They could actually move parts of this small plane with the controls inside.
The next morning, we went on a tour of the Capitol Building. In order to do this, you need to reserve with your local representative.
The dome is under construction which sort of ruins the pictures!
We were going to try to see the Senate or House Chamber, but the lines were too long. Stay tuned for more from our trip to D.C.!
