Family Pets #31Days

Today and tomorrow we are going to discuss family members that are not actually family members. Starting today with pets. Did you grow up with pets? Do you have pets now?

I grew up with a Miniature Schnauzer named Julie. She died when I was 11 and I missed her ever since. For some reason, I always knew I wanted a Scottish Terrier, and that’s what I have now. Rudy is 10 years old. Dave had a cat while growing up, but his family was never that into dogs, which is funny, since his two sisters also have dogs now! My brother has two dogs too!

Feel free to tell me about your family pets in the comments or by leaving a link to your post!

Blurb wishes you a happy and mobile Halloween! As much as Halloween is supposed to be about “scary,” in reality, it’s a lot about “cute.” It’s about kids in costume, creative pumpkin art, and way too much sugar for everyone involved. Halloween is a holiday of sights and sounds. You’ll be taking photos and video that you’ll want to share that very night, but also keep forever. And, since you’ll likely be busy greeting trick-or-treaters, putting on costumes, and rationing candy, you need an easy way to capture the night’s events. That’s where Blurb mobile comes in.

Blurb mobile is an app for the iPhone and iPad that lets you create sharable online stories—and turn those stories into beautiful 7x7 inch books. What’s a story exactly? Well, in the Blurb mobile world, it’s a sequence of photos and other media you capture on your phone. It can tell a very literal story—with beginning, middle, and end—or it can be a collection of photos. Just take photos and video with the app, or import them from your camera roll (including those saved Instagram photos on your phone). You can add captions to your photos too. You can even record your little monsters saying “trick or treat,” and attach the audio track to your photo.

Want a printed version of your story? Of course you do. Blurb’s Small Square books start at $12.99 for a 20-page softcover, and shipping is just $3.99. So, whether you lean toward the scary or the cute or some awesome combination of the two—share your stories on Halloween night on your favorite social media sites with Blurb mobile. And then in a few weeks, get a beautifully bound photo book that you can look at for many Halloweens to come.  Have a happy and mobile Halloween!

Funny that this is the topic today, because my mom and I were just taking about what type of dog to get the girls in the future now. When I was growing up, we had two dogs (at the same time). One was a Yorkie and the other was an Australian Terrier. Both were pretty good dogs, but the Yorkie actually was taken and when never found him again. And the terrier had to be put to sleep when I was around 10 years old. My mom had to be the one to take him to the Vet that day and didn't want to get another dog after that experience. Just too much for her I suppose. Kevin's family always had both cats and dogs, but Kevin is more of a dog person. So, I am sure we will be getting a dog in the not so distant future now, too.

We had a few hamsters and a few budgie birds growing up but the family baby was our cat Molly who just passed away about a month ago at 14 years old. My family also has another cat Lola who is 9 years old.

When Nick and I bought our house we got our brother and sister kitties Neffi (Nefertiti) and Cleo (Cleopatra) who we thought were 2 girls but Neffi grew balls and we just never bothered to rename him lol!
