This month I’m once again linking up with Tanya to share what I’ve been purchasing via Amazon and elsewhere. When we got to Amherst, we did a big Target shop for Gabbie’s room, so I’m only including some of the bigger items here. And I’m breaking these into multiple images this time because there was just so much going on. These links are affiliate links, which means that if you click them and make a purchase, I may receive a small incentive.
Dorm Room Purchases
1. Cathay Home Essentials Lavender Twin XL Sheets – Gabbie decided she preferred lavender sheets to the white ones we had bought at Target, but she kept the white ones as an extra set. We returned the extra lavender pillow case from Target though, because this set came with one!
2. Farberware Countertop Microwave – We ordered this and had it shipped to Gabbie’s roommate. It’s for them to share, but this way was the best way to get it to the dorm room!
3. Non Slip Desk Pad in Lavender – Gabbie wanted this for her desk at school and it looks cute!
4. Small Non-Ticking Alarm Clock – I think this might have been an aesthetic purchase rather than a useful one, but Gabbie wanted a clock for her room.
5. Hanging Jewelry Organizer – Gotta have all the accessories organized in her room! The hanger piece didn’t fit over the closet hanging bar, but Dave did something with a pliers and it’s hanging now.
6. Storage Ottoman – Gabbie wanted this for her room and we were able to snag one at Target. Someone was sitting on it when we found it!
7. Plastic Drawer Dividers – Gabbie is using these to separate out her clothes in her underwear drawer. She actually bought two sets and only used one, so I might use the others in my room.
8. Organizer Task Lamp – Desk lamp for her desk with organization slots for papers and pens too.
9. Grey Drawer Tower – She also got another set in black which is in the closet – she wasn’t happy that there weren’t matching ones available!
10. Door Mirror – Everyone at Target kept asking where we found this but there were plenty available! We also got Command Strips to hang this and other things in her room.
Bar Mitzvah Purchases
1. Plaid Woven Zipper Tie – Simon needed a tie for his bar mitzvah. He is sort of between boys’ and mens’ sizes but this size large kids worked for him.
2. Crinkle Cut Paper in Sky Blue – I used this as vase filler for Simon’s centerpieces. 2 pounds ended up being too much so I have a lot leftover!
3. Floral Pick Card Holders – I used these to hold pictures and Simon’s bar mitzvah logo in the vases. I ended up ordering a second pack of them because I needed more than 50, even though I really only needed like 10 more!
4. Medium Silver Gift Bags – I used these for welcome bags for our guests. They were good quality and came with tissue paper as well as cardboard pieces to support the bottom of the bags. I was impressed by these!
5. Pop Fidget Toys – I ordered these to put in the welcome bags for the kids who came from out of town. They all seemed to enjoy them!
6. 3 lb bag of Laffy Taffy – It is a custom to throw candy at the Bar Mitzvah celebrant, and while most people like to use the Sunkist Fruit Gem candy, I chose Laffy Taffy because I thought the wrappers would make less noise. I think it worked out for that purpose, although they are a little harder than the Sunkist candies! I ordered two of these bags to make sure we had enough.
7. Dress Hat – I don’t cover my hair normally but I do at services and I wanted something somewhat nice to wear for the Bar Mitzvah. I ordered a few other things that I returned but ended up happy with this find. I felt like a witch when I looked at myself, but I think it was just fine overall!
8. Van Heusen Men’s Dress Shirt – Dave purchased this for himself to wear for the Bar Mitzvah.
Other Purchases
1. Wisdom Teeth Ice Packs (1) (2) – Gabbie and her BFF got their wisdom teeth out on the same day! We purchased two types of these ice packs because both of us moms realized we wanted them at the last minute and with the two of them we were spending enough for same day shipping.
2. Rockland Hardside Spinner Wheel Luggage – I guess technically this was a dorm room purchase since she used it for moving and is keeping it in her dorm, but Gabbie wanted a slightly smaller carry-on than the one she already has and this was our choice. It’s still at a really good price if you need a carry-on (Thanks to Jen who is the one that shared it!).
3. MacBook Air Case – Also can be considered a dorm room purchase since Gabbie picked it for her MacBook which is her college computer – but it also fits in this category! This was her second case purchase as the first one she chose wasn’t the type she wanted so we returned that one.
4. Samnyte Hair Wax Stick – I’m not even sure why Gabbie wanted this, but she got it!
5. Travel Toiletry Bag – Gabbie has a Vera Bradley bag like this that she uses when we travel. I am not sure why she needed another one but she used this for traveling to the dorm. She said one of the supposedly leak proof bottles leaked, but I think it could have been user error on her part.
6. Fuzzy Memory Foam Slippers in Pink – Technically a dorm room purchase because Gabbie got these to put on when she walks around the dorm, I’m putting this in this section because they could be used by anyone!
7. Casio Men’s Watch – Simon bought this to wear when he’s not using his Apple Watch. Most of the boys he is friends with have similar ones!
8. Kleenex Paper Hand Towels – Dave thought these would come in handy with all the guests we had around the house.
9. MacBook Pro Charger – Simon’s cousin was kind enough to gift him an older MacBook that he was no longer using for Simon’s Bar Mitzvah. He didn’t have a charger for it so Simon chose this one. It arrived in a few hours!
10. USB-C to USB Adaptor – Simon ordered this too but I don’t think he’s opened it yet!
11. Athletic T-Shirt – Simon is taking PE and needs to change for class. I didn’t realize he only needs to change once a week, but I figured he could use some athletic clothes.
12. Boys’ Athletic Shorts – See above!
13. Day Designer Planner – Simon wanted a planner like Gabbie’s. He ordered this one from Target. I told him that if he uses it I will reimburse him for it. I’m not sure he has been using it yet!
Have you found anything fun on Amazon (or otherwise) lately?
