It’s the end of the month so it’s time for my month in review post. November was an okay month with a little bit of happiness after all the sadness in October, but lots of the kids being sick…here’s how it went.
Daily Life
After we went to NJ at the end of October, both boys got sick. First, Zachary missed a day of school but then seemed to be getting better. Then Simon’s cough got worse and he kept complaining he felt dizzy. I took him to the doctor twice in a week – once on my birthday – and he left school early twice too. The doctor said he was dizzy because his ears seemed clogged but they weren’t infected, so there wasn’t much we could do about it.
On the 13th, Zachary left for Washington DC to attend the rally in support of Israel and against antisemitism. He went with 3 other boys and one parent. I’m so glad he got to be there. Dave and I attended a rally there in 2002 and I remember it being meaningful. I watched this one on the livestream and it was very uplifting to see.
Our nephew was there too and he got a ride back to NJ with Zachary’s group – they flew to and from NY and drove to D.C. from there!
We spent a week in NJ for Thanksgiving and just got back. We had a good time, but towards the end of the trip Zachary’s cough came back as a new cold and he really wasn’t feeling well while we traveled home. So, this month has been full of sickness for the boys!
Holidays and Birthdays
My birthday was a little stressful because I was running all over the place with Simon being sick and needing to go to the doctor. That night we had a Shabbat dinner and Dave partially sponsored it in honor of my birthday, which was nice. We celebrated a few days late with a Coldstone cake.
I will sum up Thanksgiving in a separate post, but here’s a sneak peak:
Our newest great nephew and great niece had us practicing for a future as grandparents!
School
Zachary missed a bunch of school with going to D.C. and NJ for Thanksgiving. He has a lot of math to catch up on. It’s only a few weeks till finals too! Simon also missed school for Thanksgiving and I hope he is able to catch up. I am trying not to bother him about it but he needs someone to remind him to do things!
Gabbie is almost done with her first semester at college. She chose classes for second semester already. She is working on a paper and she has to take one real final. Then she’ll be home mid December till the end of January! She has two school friends coming to visit us in January too. After Thanksgiving, we drove her back to school and the boys got to see the campus for the first time.
Almost there – see the rainbow?
Lunch on campus!
Activities
With all the traveling, Zachary has missed a bunch of his youth group meetings! Simon had a bowling event that he attended. I am till walking shelter dogs once a week, walking a dog for pay once a week, and volunteering at the school cafe once a week!
Health / Fitness
Like I mentioned, the boys have been sick all month. My weight has continued to climb. I don’t think it’s normal how much I gain each day or week, but I don’t know what to do about it.
Still going to the gym for barre class and still getting a walk in most days!
TV
I have been watching Lessons in Chemistry and Black Cake. I’ve been enjoying both.
Reading
I read a little bit less this month with travel and a very long audio book! I mostly read what I’d planned to this month though. I shared the first half of my reading here and I’ll share my favorites of the month on Friday!
Coming Up
Next month is our regularly scheduled trip to Florida. Until then, I will start posts about our Thanksgiving trip soon!
How was your November?
