Another month gone! Nothing much happened in February, although we had two snow storms as well as some 70 degree days, which made for lots of randomness! Here is a look back at February.
Daily Life
School, and snow days peppered this month. There were two snow storms in which Gabbie had two days off and the boys had one day off. They were also off for President’s Day, and Gabbie was off the day after as well (yesterday) and we took her on her first college visit to KU. We enjoyed having our foster dog Mika until she was adopted after being with us for 3 weeks. We are waiting for our next match!
Holidays
Our only holiday this month was President’s Day, on which Gabbie was volunteering at an animal shelter (not the one we foster through) and Simon and I ended up taking a walk and exploring a park nearby. I didn’t have my camera, which was sad because it was very pretty – and we spotted two bald eagles! Also on that weekend, Zachary went on a ski trip, which he enjoyed a lot!
School
Everyone seems to be doing well in school this month. Good grades always make this mom proud! Zachary is preparing for his upcoming trip to the US south Civil Rights sites. This was the trip that Gabbie was supposed to go on in March 2020 that was canceled the same day they left on the trip. We hope Zachary’s trip will be better than hers!
Activities
Gabbie did a dance competition through school, although she danced her solo that she does for her regular competitions. She also danced at a basketball game. Tonight she has a performance at school as well – pictures to come! She strained her hips somehow and had to sit out a few days of dance – luckily a few of those days were snow days anyway.
Zachary went on the ski trip that I mentioned above and there is another youth group event this coming weekend. Simon is waiting for his turn to have a youth group lunch!
Dave and I saw Elton John in concert!
A food and travel blogger named Naomi Nachman came to our synagogue and we got to meet her and have lunch with her. That night, there was a “Chopped” style competition and somehow I agreed to be on a team! I didn’t help at all, but our team won. We had salmon, couscous, a can of Mandarin oranges, popcorn, and a hamantashen and we had to figure out what to make with all 5 ingredients, plus bonus ingredients we could add. This is what we made:
Health / Fitness
We had one doctor’s visit due to Gabbie’s hip injury. I continued to moan over the fact that I weigh too much. I ran outside on our non-snowy and warmer days and feel like I may be getting better at it! I ran 20 miles so far and my pace is about 20 seconds faster per mile than last month!
TV
Sad that football is over, watched some of the Olympics, and I’m ready for the regular shows I watch to come back! I am now watching Only Murders In The Building which is pretty interesting and funny!
Books
I shared the first half of my February reading here and will be sharing my favorites so far this month on Friday. Of course, you can always see book reviews and more on my Instagram!

Blog
In case you missed it, this month I blogged about a day in my life and did a lot of random survey type link ups! (Hodgepodge 1, Hodgepodge 2, and Three Things).
Coming Up
Zachary has his Civil Rights trip coming up. Gabbie will have spring break. We will celebrate Purim. And soon it will be spring!
How was your February?
