Family Parties #31Days

Once again, we are continuing on the topic of things you do with your family. Specifically, today’s topic is family parties. Did you have many memorable parties as a kid? Do you like to have family parties as an adult? Do you plan big birthday parties for yourself or your children? If you don’t prefer to have parties, how do you celebrate birthdays and other milestones in your family?

From my childhood, I fondly remember some of the yearly birthday parties I had, such as a swimming party, multiple roller skating parties (including my Sweet 16!), a party where we danced to a Madonna video, and parties where I just hung out with my friends as I got older. I also remember my dad’s 40th birthday party, which was so much fun for me since all of my cousins from both sides of the family came! I also had a fancy Bat Mitzvah party, as did my brother, for our 13th birthdays. For my kids, we have had a few big parties and a few smaller parties. We’ve always held our parties at home or in the park. We also have cake at home on everyone’s actual birthday!

Feel free to tell me about your family parties in the comments or by leaving a link to your post!

My parents threw me parties every year. One year, I remember was at the local art place that did plaster crafts, where you painted and designed your own (I loved this so much). My sweet sixteen was catered in our house with friends and extended family. And the last huge party was our wedding. Now though are parties for the kids birthdays that we throw and we are the parents :)

My mom was so creative with my parties! She turned the living room into NASA for my 6th bday! We also used to have big family get togethers, I love those memories!

My mom used to have the Penny Whistle Party Planner books, and I used to love going through it and imagining what all the parties would be like. My favorite one from their books was a Shipwrecked party, but I'd read through them so many times growing up there's still a few I remember that I'd love to throw for our future kids.
