Organizing My Office - Again

One of the first things that Stephanie Morgan suggests in her new ebook is a kid-free day to get started on organizing.

So when Dave suggested that he could take the kids to St. Louis for a day and I could stay home, I decided to use the time to organize and clean up my office. Yes it’s true that the office was one of the first organizing projects I did this past summer. Apparently I have a problem with keeping things organized! Also, the doors to our office had never been painted. So painting the doors was my first order of business.

Here is what the doors looked like before (after I’d removed the doorknob but before I painted):


And after three coats of semi gloss white paint, they look like this:

The trim around the door also needed paint. It’s a subtle difference, but it makes me happy. AND I just realized that #25 on my 35 Things to Do list was Paint Something! So done.

I next turned my attention to cleaning up the mess I had let accumulate since my last organizational adventure. These are before pictures, but I took the first one after I had done a lot of work. I either forgot or was too embarrassed to take the picture before I started. The one of my desk is pretty much what it looked like.

The trick is obviously going to be to keep it neat and tidy. This may be something I kind of need to work on.

This post makes me so happy! I LOVE organizing and putting things to right! Plenty of that going on as we've just moved into a new house.. so maybe I've been having my fill already, but to see before and after pictures makes my soul sing! haha ...

I love the feeling and look of being organized should see my craft closet. It is at the level of things falling out when I open the door. Sigh.

I have the same issues with my office. It is tiny (in a closet) and I have a hard time keeping it clean. Truth to tell, I would have a hard time if it were bigger as I just don't put things back when I'm done with them. I'm going to organize my desk this week and try better to keep it clean. Yours looks great. You have some good organizational systems in place.

I'm OCD when it comes to organizing...yet I never get the chance to really do the job that I'd like to. That was so great that your hubby took the kids and let you have a day to do this, it looks awesome! Gives me inspiration :) Now...if I could just figure out a better place for my laptop than the bar in the kitchen!
