Last week, my kids finished kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 5th grade. Each day, we had events to celebrate their achievements and what they learned this year.
Simon graduated kindergarten and he was so proud of himself! First, the kids sang a few songs.
Next, each kid read what they learned this year. Simon said: “I learned the ending sound I-N-G. I-N-G spells ing.”
Then, they all got their diplomas. Simon was on the back row of risers. The kids before him either walked behind the risers or along the row itself. Simon decided to crawl across the risers! Everyone laughed because it was so adorable.
Simon’s teachers and friends:
We also got a notebook of Simon’s work from this year. There is a big difference in his work from the beginning of the year until now!
Self-portraits – August and May.
Letters – May and Numbers – January.
Numbers – May and Things I Learned This Year including: USP (Uppercase, spacing, punctuation), digital time, shapes, reading, addition, subtraction, whole body listening, 2 < 4, ABCs, and feeding the birds.
If I had $100 I would get a cute puppy.
“On a snowy day I like to play in the snow” and “I like when it rains because I like the sound of thunder.”
“I am going to a pool in Overland Park, Kansas.” – This is what he plans to do this summer!
I asked Simon a few questions about the end of school and this is what he said:
What was your favorite part of school this year? Going home. Okay, specials.
What did you learn? a bunch of stuff, I can’t explain it.
What are you looking forward to when you go back to school? Having fun! (He made sure I put an exclamation point there).
What do you want to be when you grow up? Hard to choose.
Zachary’s class had an end of the year party. The kids made an Israeli breakfast for the guests to enjoy!
The kids learned how to use iMovie and we got to watch all of their presentations about what they liked most about 3rd grade. Here is Zachary’s:
I asked Zachary some questions about this year and here are his answers:
What was your favorite part of school this year? Learning.
What did you learn? Division and multiplication.
What are you looking forward to when you go back to school? To learn.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A guy that works at the airport.
Finally, Gabbie graduated 5th grade. Because the kids are continuing in the middle school in the same school, the program was called a “continuation,” rather than a graduation. First, we got to hear the 5th grade band. Gabbie learned to play the flute this year.
Next, awards and diplomas were presented to the class.
Gabbie received the Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence!
Next, the students presented their projects in which they pretended they received 1 million dollars to start a business. Gabbie’s was a bookstore. And they also presented a project in Hebrew in which they studied one of the wars in Israel’s history.
I asked Gabbie about this year, and here are her answers:
What was your favorite part of school this year? Using Chrome Books.
What did you learn? Stuff.
What are you looking forward to when you go back to school? Getting to take Chrome Books home.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Teacher.
I asked the kids the same questions last year in this post if you are interested!
