Last week was Gabbie’s dance Extravaganza which is the dance show her school dance team puts on. This year the show was Hollywood themed. As a senior and an officer, Gabbie was in 10 of the dances and helped with the choreography for 6 of them. The team choreographs all the dances for this show.
First up was the show opener, Welcome to Moulin Rouge, with the whole team and Gabbie was one of the choreographers.
She was next in a dance with the team officers, and the three of them choreographed it together. They did it to Tight Rope from The Greatest Showman.
The tap small group included 8 dancers and Gabbie was one of the choreographers. Their song was Get Down from the musical Six.
The whole varsity team did a musical theater dance to Roxie from Chicago.
After the intermission, there was a cute video made by the team in which the two seniors said some of their memories and there were some inside jokes and fun times they shared. It was cute.
The first dance in Act 2 was a routine called Glow, which is a tradition they do every year, in the dark using glow wands. I didn’t get any good pictures of it, but it was fun, and it was done to the song Surface Pressure from Encanto.
Gabbie also got to perform her solo in the show. This is the solo she has been performing at competitions this season. She will also perform it in her recital in two weeks.
The flag small group was my favorite dance, to Yorktown from Hamilton and partially choreographed by Gabbie.
Next was a group of senior guys, plus two of the girls who were involved in the show’s production, called the “men of South” dance, which Gabbie and the other senior choreographed. They danced to Friend Like Me from Aladdin.
Varsity hip hop was to the song Men In Black Remix.
Then there was a slideshow with some pictures of the seniors through the years and videos from their families. And then the seniors did their senior dance, choreographed by them and to the song Long Live by Taylor Swift.
The last song was One Night in Bangkok from the musical Chess, with the whole team.
At the end the coach announced everyone, with the seniors coming out last and doing their last dance on the team.
Being on this team was a great experience for Gabbie and we are so proud of her!
