You know how this summer we spent a month in New Jersey? Well, I’m still blogging about that trip! I’m up to our trip home, which took us from NY to PA, MD, WV, KY, IL, MO, and finally KS. While traveling, we try to make stops along the way to keep things interesting! Only Gabbie and Simon were with us, as Zachary was in camp.
First up was Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey, PA! We didn’t have time to visit Hershey Park itself, but Chocolate World features a free ride that shows how chocolate is made. And at the end, you get a free Hershey sample.
The next place was stopped was the West Virginia Botanic Garden in Morgantown, WV, which I already wrote about here. After that, we found a random road side attraction at the Museum of American Glass in Weston, WV.
And from there, we headed to Huntington, WV where we stayed that night! We enjoyed walking around the town and seeing the painted trains that are on display. We also did a bit of geocaching.
The next day, we continued into KY. We met up with Tif, and then Dave got his entertainment in by going to two distillery tours. The first was the Lexington Brewing Company / Town Branch Distillery.
His face is blurry but his reaction cracked me up!
Next we visited Buffalo Trace Distillery.
They do a lot of the work by hand and when we walked through, one of the workers gave Simon a horse cork.
We did some bourbon tasting, and continued on. That night, we drove to St. Louis, where we stayed the night, and the next day we went home to Kansas!
When you take a road trip, do you make a lot of stops or do you drive straight through?
