It’s the last day of November so it’s time to look back at our month in review. This post won’t include the actual end of the month though with our Thanksgiving trip to NJ and I’ll share that in separate posts.
Daily Life
At the beginning of the month, the boys were off for parent/teacher conferences. After that, Simon got sick and missed the rest of the week. Gabbie was off for the whole week of Thanksgiving, but she worked on those days. Since she works in the same building where the boys go to school, she was able to drive them for me for two days! We had two dog sitting visits this month – Ozzie the puppy and then Yankee and Riley who are dog niece and aunt. We had fun with them! Ozzie and his brother are going to come again in a few weeks.
Yankee is the one I’m holding!
Birthdays / Holidays
We celebrated my birthday this month. We don’t do too much for grown up birthdays here but we did have cake from Coldstone, which is our new favorite!
And of course we celebrated Thanksgiving – posts to come about that.
School
I wrote about the kids’ first quarter at school here. Math tutoring is helpful for Simon – he got another good grade on his last test, even though his quiz wasn’t great. I am annoyed because his teacher ignored his tutor’s request to let him take his test in another classroom so he wouldn’t worry about distractions. I have to meet with someone at the school about that. He is also having a hard time in English and didn’t complete a recent assignment – though he says he did complete it. So I’m not sure what is happening with that.
Gabbie got a scholarship for Temple University, and part of our Thanksgiving trip includes a campus visit there as well as to another school she applied to. She is still working on her last three applications as well. She did even better on her ACTs when she took them again in October, so that’s a good thing!
Activities
Gabbie and the dance team went to their State Spirit Showcase. She has missed a bunch of dance at her studio, but she is preparing for her role in the Jewish Nutcracker which is coming up!
Zachary is getting even more involved in youth group activities and has signed up to go to a national gathering in NY during winter break.
The boys have been hanging out with their friend group and that makes me happy. They did a “chopped” food night the other night. Simon also got to see a friend from camp who was in town visiting another local family.
Health / Fitness
It’s been a month. Simon had the flu. Luckily the rest of us stayed healthy. He got it the day after he’d had the flu shot too. It was bad for two days and then he recovered, so that’s not so bad. Gabbie fell on her head at dance and had a week long headache so we went to the doctor. It’s not a concussion but she rested from dance for about a week. My back pain increased and my chiropractor said it’s my IT band, so I’ve been trying to loosen that up to stop it from hurting! I had x-rays on my back and apparently there’s arthritis going on, so I’m supposed to do core strengthening like pilates. Hopefully I’ll start that soon.
TV
I caught up on my current watches and started watching Partner Track on Netflix. It reminds me of Emily in Paris. I also watched part of the Elton John live concert on Disney Plus. Simon wanted to watch it with me so I haven’t finished watching it yet! And I’ve been watching the Chiefs!
Books
I’ve read a lot of non fiction this month for non fiction November. I have a lot left that I didn’t get to as well. I shared the first half of my November reading here and will be sharing the rest this Friday. You can always see book reviews and more on my Instagram!
Photography
I’ve been a little less motivated to take good pictures lately, but here are my last few photos for 52 Frames – weeks 43 – 46!

In case you missed it, check out my posts about books from a series I read this year, things the internet made me buy, and visiting the cat cafe.
Coming Up
There’s just a few short weeks until winter break and our trip to Florida. Hanukkah is coming up and so is Gabbie’s winter dance show (the Jewish Nutcracker). Our calendar is starting to get full with events in December already!
How was your November?
