As I mentioned the other day, our family is taking our dream vacation – a Disney cruise! Of course I’ve been spending time researching how to make the most of our trip, and one of the things I have read about is called a “Fish Extender” exchange. On Disney cruises, there is a decoration next to the doors to the staterooms in a fish shape, which serves as a hook. People bring along a sort of mailbox that is hung from the fish hook, known as Fish Extenders. Then, people take part in a swap with other people on their cruise, in which families bring and receive gifts throughout the cruise. These gifts are placed in each family’s Fish Extender.
Here are a few tutorials I found for Fish Extenders:

The one shown on the top right made from pencil pouches looks easy enough to me! The next part of this process will be deciding what to bring as gifts for our fellow cruisers. We seem to have a small group so far, which is probably a good thing in terms of creating gifts and bringing them along! There are tons of ideas out there for Fish Extender gifts, so stay tuned for another post about that!
