One of the things on my list of 35 Things To Do this year was to go to the West Bottoms on a first Friday. The West Bottoms is “a central marketplace dating back the early 19th century. Each building tells a tale about the arrival of various commerce and trade groups. It was the first real marketplace on the Missouri River that helped to develop the beginning of the western immigration and Mexican trade points. The new century of commerce is based on reclaimed, repurposed and vintage items that are one of a kind items including collectibles that cannot be found anywhere else in the region. We provide the ultimate urban shopping experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. We have so many unique stores and shops, you must come down and find out for yourself. Every store has multiple vendors with unique items as well as reclaimed furniture for your living space.” The many shops are open on the first weekend of each month, Friday through Sunday, and in fact I have been there twice on Sundays. I still wanted to experience a first Friday as I know it can be an interesting scene, and this way I did not have to worry about bringing the kids along – specifically a stroller, because it can be hard to navigate the stores with one! I did not end up purchasing anything, though I did take a few pictures to share and document that I was there!
Do you enjoy interesting architecture and vintage furniture arrangements like I do?
Today I want to introduce you to a fellow Kansas girl, Breenah!
blog | twitter | facebook | pinterest
I first met Breenah when she wrote a post all about me! She had chosen to give my blog some love and as she did so, we became friends. She has an adorable little girl named Quinn and she shared about her 21st birthday just like I did yesterday!
This month I asked my sponsors 3 travel related questions. Breenah says:
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Ireland or Spain.
Where have you previously traveled that you loved and would return to? We got back from Maine a little bit ago and I’d love to go back!
Do you have any upcoming travel plans? Maybe heading to one of the two bigger cities near us (OKC or KC) for our anniversary on Thanksgiving weekend. (Dara says: Choose KC!)
Go visit Breenah and tell her I sent you!
