This past Sunday was Gabbie’s dance recital. Like we have done the past two years, the shows were divided by level, so our show was only for the level 3 and 4 dancers. There were 12 dances plus 3 senior solos. Gabbie was in 6 of the dances. When I chose our reserved seats I tried to be far enough away to be able to capture the whole stage on my camera, but of course there were people in front of me, so please excuse the big head in the way of some of these!
First up was Pre-Pointe. Gabbie got her pointe shoes this year and hasn’t started full on Pointe yet, but probably will next year. The song was My Bonny Boy.
Next was Ballet, and the song was Romeo and Juliet.
Jazz was next and it was a fun dance to Waiting For You, but I didn’t get many photos of it.
Tap is a smaller class and they stay in one place for awhile, so I was able to get more pictures! They did the song Do You Love Me.
Next was Hip Hop to Motown Philly / Poison. Fun for the parents!
The last song was Lyrical and they did the most to make the whole audience cry. There are three graduating seniors this year – this is the first year that our school has had graduates, and most of them have danced there since they were tiny. So they had the seniors up front in their college shirts and the rest of the high schoolers behind – Gabbie and the other junior were in the next row and I’m already dreading next year! The song was called Old Friends and was about growing up and moving on and making new friends…I had to tune out the words so I didn’t sob! The seniors were sobbing and the whole group ran across the stage to hug them at the end. So sweet but sad! I didn’t get many pictures of this dance but trust me it was moving.
That’s Gabbie and the other junior – they’ve been dancing together for years!
Thinking about this being us next year is overwhelming already. After the recital I tried to get all three of my kids in a picture but of course Zachary refused.
And here is Gabbie blending in with the backdrop…
One of these days I’ll have to do a throwback dance post because in some ways she looks the same and in others she’s grown so much! I also have some pre-senior photos to share, taking by the photographer who does all of the studio’s dance photos. They came out great. Here are a few:
It’s been a great year of dance!
