Today I’m linking up with Anne in Residence for her Currently link up. August’s prompt words are: admiring, anticipating, enjoying, spending, and saving. Here’s what I’m currently up to!
[admiring]
Simone Biles! She’s a hero. I think we are quick to judge, but if you read into what gymnasts experience with regards to physical effects on their bodies, not to mention the abuse so many of them suffered, you can’t help but realize how hard it is to be an elite gymnast. I still maintain that the scariest book I ever read is The Girls by Abigail Pesta, about the abusive gymnastics doctor and how he got away with doing what he did for so long.
[anticipating]
It’s the time of year when I get anxious about back to school! I made a list of the supplies Simon needs and noticed they don’t seem to request a binder…I thought they did for middle school and I thought they taught them how to get organized – he’s really bad at that! I’ve spoken twice to Gabbie’s counselor about her schedule and I feel proud of myself that I even know what is going on enough to tell him what classes she needs and wants. (The electives she needed / wanted were full, but I wonder if he can change another class around to fit things in??) Anyway, I’m anticipating the return to normalcy….hopefully!
[enjoying]
We finally have a break from the extreme heat of the last few weeks. The mornings have been much cooler this week so far, which means I can run more comfortably! I’ve also enjoyed having Simon go to camp this week. He is at the same camp where Zachary volunteers and Gabbie has dance that ends at the same time as camp, so she can bring them all home!
[spending]
I filled up my Old Navy cart with shirts for Zachary. Our school has uniforms through middle school, but in high school they just have to dress nicely. I picked out some henley type shirts for him – basically t-shirts made nicer with buttons at the neck – and I’m hoping he will find them acceptable! He is picky! So I spent some money on them, but Old Navy was cheaper than Amazon!
[saving]
I am saving Simon from having to read The Westing Game for school. I’ve been serving as his audio by reading it out loud. Since I started in the middle, I kind of don’t know what is happening, but he was refusing to read it otherwise!
Now tell me something you are currently doing!
