There are very few places in the United States that have the glamor, kudos and worldwide fame that Los Angeles has. L.A has the best of both worlds from the idyllic and scenic beaches of Santa Monica to the iconic signage of the Hollywood Hills. Los Angeles really does have something for everyone and has earned its name of the City of Angels. If you are hot footing it to the west coast, you could hit the cities of San Francisco, San Diego and, of course, Los Angeles. Take a look at the sorts of things you can partake in if you pay a visit to Los Angeles.
Walk Of Fame
A must for any film buff, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is synonymous with movie stars and music legends from years gone by. You could locate your favorite movie star’s plaque and enjoy strolling around the streets near the Chinese Theater. Here, you can marvel at the handprints and footprints of all sorts of movie stars. You could locate the Backstreet Boys, Kim Basinger and Jack Lemmon all on the same walking tour. The Chinese Theater may sound glitzy but the area isn’t as glamorous as it might seem. The streets can be a little grubby and even the famous Hollywood Boulevard is lacking in sophistication. But if you love movies, the Walk of Fame is a must visit.
Museums
Just because Los Angeles has a reputation of being a little shallow with its focus on image, wheatgrass smoothies and cosmetic procedures, there is also a lot of culture to marvel at. The galleries and museums on offer throughout the Arts District and on Rodeo Drive are great for the tourist who adores wandering around a city. You could head to the Museum of Illusions, a great interactive museum where the kids can get hands on with the exhibits and enjoy the weird and wonderful illusions. Or perhaps the Museum of Jurassic Technology is more up your street. Here, you can take in all sorts of random kooky curiosities from tiny artistic masterpieces to unfathomable contraptions.
Venice Beach
To take a load off and relax with hundreds of beached bronzed gods and goddesses, you could do far worse than Venice Beach. Here, the bohemian vibe and relaxed atmosphere makes for an unintimidating spell to catch some rays. You can people watch to your heart’s content. Perhaps you fancy having a go at the roller blading on the boardwalk or caricature painting on the sand. Boat trips and fishing can be explored from the many tour providers, and you might even catch sight of a celebrity or two. With a great surfing school, you and the kids could even have some fun with your first lesson on a board.
Heading to Los Angeles doesn’t mean just passing through. You can actually spend a few days enjoying the delights of the city and the relaxation of the coastal views. There is more than one reason why you should say yay to LA.
