With 4 weeks until school begins, I felt like it was time to start school supply shopping. Gabbie and I made a Target and Walmart run and hint – Walmart is cheaper! Buying supplies feels different this year as I have two middle schoolers and this is the first year none of my kids need crayons or markers! It’s all highlighters, composition notebooks, loose leaf paper, and binders around here!
Zachary had gotten a new file folder in the middle of 4th grade because they break, but in 5th grade he switched to using a binder, so now Simon can use his file folder. Zachary and Gabbie are both using their binders from this past year, so that saved a bit on things we needed to buy!
Even though they always come home with unused pencils at the end of the year, Simon’s teacher is requesting 36 pencils for the classroom and two packs for the art room, so I got him a pack of 40 and a pack of 24. He needs highlighters in blue, green, pink, and yellow, 3 dry erase markers (I have 2…), 1 glue stick, 10 page protectors, rubber cement, and a small pencil box.
For middle school, Zachary needs index cards, a graph composition notebook, and post-it flags, which are not things he’s used before!
And Gabbie had a lot of the things she needed already from this past year, but she wanted a little box for her notecards, a colorful pack of pens, a cute notebook since she only needed one, and for everything to match each other!
Gabbie and I also both found new planners at HomeGoods / TJ Maxx. I don’t have a picture of hers, but it is pink and has the same inside as mine! I have a planner that I got last year in September that goes through this December, but there is something about a new school year that makes me want a fresh new planner.
This one comes with stickers inside for page decorations.
I started filling it out to start using it in August, even though it actually starts in July! Normally, I would not fill out my blog schedule in pen, but I picked up a pack of Pilot G2 Pens which I love and can never resist, and it came with a Pilot Frixon Erasable Pen – and it actually works! I definitely should get more of those for my weekly planner pages!
I just placed an order from Walmart for a few more things we needed and didn’t find in the store – plastic index dividers with folders, a protractor, and a new lunchbox for Gabbie!
