Over Labor Day weekend, we took a trip to Omaha. We wanted to go to Omaha in order to attend a baseball game played by the Royals Triple-A Affiliate team, the Omaha Storm Chasers. While in Omaha, we also went to the Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari, the Labor Day parade, and for a walk to Iowa across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
The Wildlife Safari is a drive-through park, with areas where you can get out and walk to see more animals. While we have been to the Omaha Zoo a few times, we had not been to this park before.
The baseball game was that night. It was the 2nd to last game of the season. All of the Storm Chasers mascots were greeting excited fans like Simon!
The game itself was not quite as exciting as a Royals game, and while we’d hoped to see a few Royals players there, we only saw one familiar player. The atmosphere was fun though!
After the game, kids could run the bases – Simon did that – and then there were fireworks.
The next morning, we went downtown to the Labor Day parade. We were in Omaha on Labor Day a few years ago and we remembered enjoying the parade and were excited to see it again.
We collected a ton of candy thrown out by the people passing by!
In the afternoon, we checked out the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. We walked from Nebraska to Iowa and back!
I know some of you have been to Omaha – have you ever been to any of these places?
