Part of the 2nd grade curriculum in our school is outer space. Zachary has been interested in the stars for awhile, but the space unit encouraged him even further. I was very excited to try out a subscription to Space Scouts for this very reason – I think Zachary will love this!
ROXY and JETT will guide your child on a scouting expedition through the solar system, with focus on a specific place in space each month. Begin the adventure with the Space Scouts lunchbox to use as a backdrop and storage for the monthly magnet collection, the Space Scouts solar system poster to map and mark with the monthly exploration sticker, and the Space Scouts constellation card startup kit to hold the monthly constellation card collection.
Each monthly packet will include a Space Scouts exploration plan describing the place to be scouted, a Space Scouts magnet to add to the Space Scouts lunchbox, a Space Scouts sticker to add to the Space Scouts solar system poster, a Space Scouts activity sheet loaded with puzzles, games, and activities, a Space Scouts sticker scramble (unscramble the numbered stickers to reveal a surprise!), a Space Scouts souvenir toy to use in learning activities, a Space Scouts constellation card, and a Space Scouts constellation activity sheet that includes the mythological stories and other learning activities to help your child identify the constellation in the night sky.
The first month’s package includes a lunchbox for storage, a solar system poster, activity sheets, Wikki Stix, and the Constellation Collection Startup Kit.
The second month’s packet included fun information and activity sheets about astronauts and Ursa Major – the Big Dipper. The stickers can be added to the poster from month 1, and the magnet can be added to the lunchbox. It also came with three fun toys – the Bionic Claw and two astronaut figures to help you learn to use a robotic arm like an astronaut! I think Zachary’s favorite part will be the claw!
I love that the kits come with educational activities and I think the sticker scramble sheets will be great for fine motor skill building. Combining educational materials with fun toys is great for kids and moms!
