Over the next few days I will be introducing a variety of moms that I have met through blogging. I asked them all a series of questions and have loved reading their answers – so I hope my blog readers enjoy them too! I am calling this series “A Mom a Minute.” Today, let’s spend a minute with Holly from Back Home Again!
Tell us about your kids – how many, boys/girls, names, ages, etc.
I have two children, Ewan who is an extremely rambunctious, talkative two year old who is 98% his mommy and Cecily, who is five months and the happiest baby I have ever seen, always smiling and loves her Mommy!
What are your kids into right now? TV Shows, music, movies, toys, books, etc? What are their favorite things?
Ewan LOVES Mickey Mouse and Spiderman. We’re actually in the process of creating a SpiderMickey room for him. Cecily loves anything that crinkles.
What kind of activities are your kids involved in? If they are too little for activities, what do you think you might want them involved in when they are older?
I’m a musician and pretty much everyone in my family going back three generations has been proficient on an instrument. I would love for them to be in music when they’re older. But, if they don’t want to be that’s fine too.
Where have you gone with your kids that you’d recommend to others? Children’s museums, amusement parks, vacations?
We haven’t taken them to too many places outside of where we live, but Ewan loves our local zoo and children’s museum. When Ewan was 14 months old, we took him to the Georgia Aquarium and he loved it. It’s definitely something I recommend.
Are your kids picky eaters or do they eat whatever you make them? What are their favorites?
Ewan used to eat everything, but now he is extremely picky. He has milk and a waffle every morning and pb&j for dinner almost every night. He also doesn’t like noodles, but he LOVES chili! Cecily has yet to start solids and loves her mama’s milk 🙂
What is your mom super power?
Getting myself, two kids and a husband ready every morning!
What is your biggest mom challenge or struggle?
Probably my biggest challenge (aside from Ewan’s sleeping habits) is getting frustrated easily. Ewan is just like his mother in that he is very stubborn and independent and wants to do everything himself. I have a hard time with letting him do things instead of just doing them for him.
What has been your biggest surprise as a mom – something you do that you didn’t think you would ever do or something you just didn’t expect?
The amount of love I have for these two little people I helped create. I had always been told that the love for a child is indescribable and it’s true. I just love cuddling with them. As I tell my husband all the time, they make my heart feel good.
Give us some Mommy advice!
You will do things that you never imagined doing. Ever. You might have even told people that you would never do these things and that if you ever had kids, you still wouldn’t do them. But, when those kids come along, you will do these things without batting an eye and it will all be worth it.
Don’t forget to visit Holly at her blog! And come back for more mom minutes later this week!
