I guess summer is unofficially over even though it is currently 83 degrees at 9:30 PM. I waited until dusk to run today, hoping it would feel cooler outside, but the humidity is still pretty strong out there! I just finished drinking a “frozen lemonade,” which I made myself using ice and lemonade in my blender. I had been wanting one since I saw some at the Santa-Cali-Gon days street fair that we went to yesterday. “Santa-Cali-Gon Days Festival is a non-stop celebration of Independence, Missouri as the starting point of the great westward expansion of the United States. The three main trails to the west, Santa Fe, California and Oregon originated in Independence.” We walked around for awhile but it was pretty crowded and I didn’t get any pictures and I didn’t buy anything. Gabbie bought shoes for her American Girl doll Ella!
It was really hot yesterday and we went to the pool for the last time of the season. The water was freezing and it felt so good! It was also very hot on Sunday, but we did our favorite weekend activity – the zoo. Zachary loves the zoo and wants to go everyday. Even Simon gets excited to go on the train and see animals. This time we went to the Africa side of the zoo. We hadn’t been that way in awhile. I took some pictures of course!
Hope everyone had a good last summer weekend and are having a great beginning of school!
