Toy and Miniature Museum

This month, the kids and I decided to check out the Toy and Miniature Museum. Actually called the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, it is located right here in Kansas City. This was our third time visiting the museum and as always, we really enjoyed it. The lower level of the museum is focused on miniatures and the 2nd floor features toys.

I am not sure if you can tell how small everything is just from these photos!

There is an area where you can look through microscopes at the tiny objects. There are also magnifying glasses to borrow.

Here, the kids are practicing being a miniature artist by using tweezers and a magnifying glass to move tiny hands onto a clock.

Zachary decided to do it without a magnifying glass!

More miniatures:

Along the stairs, there is a display of toys of all types. We love looking at them!

Upstairs are many displays of various types of toys.

The boys loved the toy cars, of course!

The first time I was there, there was a special exhibit about Barbie. The second time, it was about ride on toys. This time, it was about marbles. A nice man explained the history of the marble game tournaments and showed us how to shoot marbles, but the kids didn’t want to try it.

More toys from the past:

One of my favorite areas is the toys displayed by decade. Here are the toys I grew up with:

Now, if you visited a local area this month, link up with Lauren and me here!

Feel free to save our image and share it in your blog post so others can find the link-up!

Did you own any of the toys we saw at the museum?

Animal Kingdom Morning

Animal Kingdom

On our last day in Disney World, we planned on a morning in the Animal Kingdom. When I made our Fast Pass reservations, I thought that we had very little interest in the new Pandora world. Then I kept hearing how beautiful and well-themed it is, so I switched things around and got a Fast Pass for Na’vi River Journey. I figured we’d be ok skipping the Flight of Passage thrill ride. However, while we were in Disney World, I kept hearing how everyone loved the ride and when I looked it up, I read that it was the best ride ever made, so we decided to head over to extra magic hours at 8 AM and get straight in line for Flight of Passage.

When the bus finally came, it was the first bus of the morning and people had been waiting for over half an hour, so it was completely packed! When we finally got to the Animal Kingdom, there was an hour wait already and just finding the end of the line had us walking a long way! But we knew that if we wanted to ride it, this was what we needed to do, and an hour wait was better than 2 or 3 hours as it was reaching later in the day!
