Bringing Shampoo Back With Desert Essence

I received this product for free from Moms Meet to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

Today I’m back with even more hair talk! I talked about my favorite hair products a few weeks ago and in that post I mentioned that I don’t use shampoo. I started using only conditioner a few years ago after reading about the no-poo method. The reason I subscribed to the method is because I have frizzy, curly hair and I found out that many shampoos have chemicals that can be harmful to your hair. The method that I decided to use is called co-washing or co-only, short for conditioner only. Conditioners contain ingredients that do cleanse hair, and also leave it moisturized without stripping hair’s natural oils.

Since I started this method, many more shampoos are on the market that don’t contain harmful chemicals and are made for people with hair like mine specifically, but I have mainly stuck with only using conditioner in my hair. I was recently given the opportunity to try Desert Essence Anti-Breakage Shampoo and Conditioner and this shampoo does not contain sulfates or silicones – the first no-no’s for hair like mine! Of course, the conditioner does not contain these harmful products either!

The shampoo and conditioner are infused with an exclusive blend of Country Life Maxi-Hair® plus Biotin as well as Keratin and Pro-Vitamin B5 and claims to helps reduce breakage up to 61%. When I shower, a lot of my hair breaks off. I saw a big difference after just using these products a few times!

Desert Essence was founded in 1978 and uses nutrient-rich desert botanicals in their products. I have also tried their Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner and I am pleased with them as well. This product contains apple cider vinegar, which is actually one of the products the no-poo method cites as a good way to cleanse your hair when not using shampoo. Desert Essence makes me feel comfortable using shampoo, so I have been using shampoo again since receiving these products.
