10 Summer Ideas Completed: Part 1

Last week I shared 10 Ideas that we hope to complete this summer. We did two of the ideas already – making slime and Watermelon Rice Krispie treats.

The slime I wanted to make is described here, but instead I bought the ingredients that were on display at Target – glue, baking soda, and contact lens solution.

The slime turned out to be wet and a bit…slimy? But not really good to play with. So, I think later in the summer we will be trying the recipe that I linked to in last week’s post!

Next, we decided to try the Watermelon Rice Krispie Treats. All the kids helped make the treats – including my kids’ second cousin, who was hanging out with us!

We all agreed that it came out cute and also yummy!

So, that’s one checked off our list and one we might have to retry!

What’s In Your Bowl?

Here’s a little known fact about me – I haven’t updated our dishes since we got married – almost 17 years ago! The truth is we don’t even really use dishes as often as we should and oftentimes rely on paper plates. However, there are some foods that I do use dishes for and I eat most of those foods in bowls! So when I was offered the chance to review Sweese’s 28 ounce porcelain bowls, I of course jumped at the opportunity.

I love the way they look when stacked together!

The kids and I were brainstorming about all the things we might use these bowls for and we came up with the following ideas:

1. Ice Cream
2. Soup
3. Salad
4. Cereal
5. Oatmeal
6. Dips such as hummus or salsa
7. Snacks like potato chips
8. Candy
9. Decorative items
10. Stack them and display!

I’d also love to try making Buddha Bowls! I think these bowls would be great for any one bowl recipe.

These bowls are FDA approved and made of durable porcelain, a type of premium LEAD-FREE and NON-TOXIC ceramic which is chip-resistant and more sturdy than stoneware. The bowls are easy to organize so they take up less room in your cupboard. They have a unique shape which lends to a beautiful presentation on your table. They measure 6.8 x 6.5 x 2.8 inches and 28 oz. They are dishwasher, microwave, freezer, and oven safe. They also feature a 30-day No-Chip guarantee.

If I was hoping to update my dishes, I would definitely consider doing so with Sweese bowls and plates, which they also carry in their Amazon store, along with mugs, utensils, canisters, and other kitchen tools. While white dishes have a certain attraction to them, I also love the colorful items that Sweese carries!

Hooray, It’s Friday! Cute and Fun Things

I’m not sure what to say this week because so much is going on but I want to save it all for separate posts! So here are just a few things!

When I was browsing Instagram, I came across such a pretty account, I just had to follow! Malupenella shares photos of colors and textures from her travels.

In Kansas, I still haven’t found any Rae Dunn products, but here in NJ I found a few at Home Goods. I just got this one mug so far, but maybe I’ll get more!

My sister-in-law took the kids to the mall and bought them Lego sets. We don’t exactly need more Legos, but at least they are entertained!

My sister-in-law also bought us these tiny cupcakes. They are so cute!
