It is kind of funny to write the same post three years in a row, but every fall at the same time, we celebrate the holiday of Sukkot, which is one of our favorites, and every year I take pictures of Dave and the kids putting up our Sukkah! All of the information about Sukkot that you might be curious about can be found in last year’s post. In summary, the Jewish people spent a portion of time wandering in the desert and living in huts or booths known as Sukkot (plural of Sukkah). Now, every year we commemorate this time by constructing our own Sukkah and dwelling in it by eating our meals inside it throughout the week of the holiday. [source info].
You must be able to see the sky through the roof of your Sukkah, so first we needed to trim a tree that was in the way!
My main job in all of this is the decorations, most of which remain on the walls year after year.
Zachary made a new decoration this year:
It has the 7 species that grow in Israel on it. (Wheat, barley, dates, olives, pomegranates, figs, and grapes).
Simon brought home a miniature Sukkah!
I will be offline until Saturday night to celebrate the first part of the holiday – see you back here on Sunday!
