Since my last update, I finished one book.
The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes was the kind of book I’d been waiting for – the kind where I can’t put it down and I get sucked into the world of the characters. “In 1977, pregnant Genevieve Russell disappeared. Twenty years later, her remains are discovered and Timothy Gleason is charged with murder. But there is no sign of the unborn child. CeeCee Wilkes knows how Genevieve Russell died, because she was there. And she also knows what happened to the missing infant, because two decades ago she made the devastating choice to raise the baby as her own. Now Timothy Gleason is facing the death penalty, and she has another choice to make. Tell the truth, and destroy her family. Or let an innocent man die in order to protect a lifetime of lies…” The book follows the life of CeeCee Wilkes from the time she is sixteen until much later in her life when she is the mother of grown children. Things she did when she was sixteen now effect the future of her family. There is suspense in the story and the characters were likeable and interesting, even though they have many flaws. The only problem I had with the book is that I’m not sure I believed the mother-daughter relationship that is one of the main focuses of the book. It didn’t make as much sense as it should have. I did like how the story was resolved; I only was not sure about the believability of that one relationship. As this is the second book I’ve read by Diane Chamberlain and both books were page-turners, I am sure to read more by her soon!
