I used to find creative salads difficult to make, but now they are one of my favorite foods, partially due to an awesome salad cookbook that I own and partially due to bags of salad like the ones from Fresh Express. I was very excited when I was asked to review these salads for my blog, thanks to Moms Meet.
Found at Target stores and many other major retailers across the country, Fresh Express salads are thoroughly washed, rinsed, and gently dried, then sealed in patented “Keep-Crisp®” breathable bags to keep their just-picked freshness, without preservatives. Fresh Express has a wide variety of products, including refreshing mixes and ready-to-eat Kits. They also have a special USDA-Certified Organic line. Fresh Express salad mixes can vary in price, depending on the retailer, but typically cost between $2-$4 per bag.
I chose to sample the Veggie Medleys Famer’s Garden mix, as I’d never tried Fresh Express’s mixed bags before. This salad is made up of butter and red leaf lettuces, carrots, and radishes, and contains a separate bag of grape tomatoes within the larger salad bag. I love the convenience of buying a salad with various toppings without having to buy each vegetable individually!
I made my current favorite salad dressing. Here is the recipe:
1/2 cup mayonnaise | 1 tbsp vinegar | 1 tsp minced garlic | 2 tbsp sugar | 1 tsp dill | 1 squirt mustard
Mix together and pour over salad! Such a yummy lunch – or in my case, late afternoon snack!
Fresh Express is currently introducing a program called the 30 Day Salad Swap. The program is designed for nutrition-conscious moms to recreate the flavors of higher-calorie cravings, like pizza and pasta, in lower-calorie salads. It’s an ingenious way to eat and feel better in the new year. Those who sign up will have instant access to the free Salad Swap app, complete with an extensive library of recipes and salad swaps, a progress tracker, motivation, inspiration, and even Fresh Express coupons.
