What I’ve Been Reading #36 Featuring The Seduction of Miriam Cross

I received this book from TLC Book Tours for my review. Mystery and Thriller writer Wendy Tyson has a background in law and psychology, which has provided inspiration for her stories. The Seduction of Miriam Cross is the first Delilah Percy Powers mystery.

“Can Delilah Percy Powers figure out who killed Miriam Cross before she becomes the killer’s next target? Miriam Cross, author, feminist and philanthropist, disappears from her Philadelphia home. A year later, a lonely recluse named Emily Cray is brutally murdered in her bed in a small Pennsylvania town. Miriam and Emily are one and the same. As Delilah and her staff of female detectives - a militant homemaker, an ex-headmistress and a former stripper - delve into Miriam’s life, they become submerged in an underworld of unfathomable cruelty and greed with implications that go far beyond the gruesome death of one woman or the boundaries of one country. Eventually Miriam’s fight for justice becomes Delilah’s own...until Delilah’s obsession with finding the truth may prove just as deadly.”

The first thing I liked about this mystery was the variety of characters working for Delilah Percy Powers, the head of an all female detective agency. The story is told from the viewpoints of all of these women and I would definitely read more about each of them in the future. There is also one male hired by the agency – Matthew Anderson is added to the staff due to his computer expertise, which is needed in order to get ahead on the case of Miriam Cross’s murder. Each member of the staff is valuable in figuring out the mystery and I would love to find out more about how they each developed their individual skills.

The mystery itself led to a book that was fun an interesting to read. It is not easy to figure out the answers to what happened to Miriam Cross / Emily Cray, but as the story continues, more details are revealed. An exciting ending wraps up the story and reveals the answers the reader is looking for.

TLC Book Tours is allowing me to give away one copy of this book! If you are interested in reading it, and you should be, please let me know in a comment below. I will choose a winner (USA / Canada only) next Friday the 13th!
