Since I started wearing makeup, I have been interested in trying out a variety of products – not only makeup, but facial cleansers and skin improvement items too. So, of course, when I was selected to review Lancôme’s DreamTone Customized Skin Tone Correcting Serum, I was thrilled! “DreamTone is the next generation in dark spot correction. The new DreamTone is 3 barely-tinted serums formulated to visibly correct dark spots, color imperfections and give you a more even-looking skin tone. It comes in 3 serums customized for your skin tone: 1- Fair, 2 – Medium, 3 – Dark.”
The first thing I noticed about DreamTone is the bottle. It is so pretty, it made me happy just to hold it! Twisting the top makes the pump section open, as can be seen in this picture. The directions state to apply the product twice per day, in the morning and evening, under your moisturizer. Applying the serum to my face feels smooth and fresh. It has a slight fragrance which is pleasant enough. After using this product for between 3 and 4 weeks, I have noticed that my face feels smoother and healthier, with less breakouts. I do have some darker areas on my face which I have not seen lighten noticeably yet. I am confident with continued use my skin tone will even out. Lancôme’s results based on global self-assessments of women of multiple ethnicities in an 8-week study testify that 74% of respondents saw glowing skin immediately, 70% noticed a more even skin tone after 7 days, 69% saw the appearance of dark spots reduced after four weeks, and 78% saw color imperfections reduced after 8 weeks of use.
My main concern about this product is the cost. Lancôme DreamTone retails for $98 for a 1.3 fl oz. bottle and is available for purchase at Lancôme.com and department stores nationwide. As a frugal consumer, I am unlikely to purchase such an expensive product for myself. On the other hand, I am aware that many people will be willing to pay for a product that works, and it seems that most people are very satisfied with this product!
As part of my participation in this program, I promised to dare to bare my results by joining the #bareselfie movement, posting a photo of my face naturally bare. Like I said, I only recently started wearing makeup, so my face has been seen naturally bare for years! However, I took this bare selfie and I was proud of the resulting photo!
