What I’ve Been Reading #22 With Literary Junkies Linkup

This week I finished The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. “After Mara survives the traumatizing accident at the old asylum, it makes sense that she has issues. She lost her best friend, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s sister, and as if that weren’t enough to cope with, her family moves to a new state in order to give her a fresh start. But that fresh start is quickly filled with hallucinations—or are they premonitions?—and then corpses, and the boundary between reality and nightmare is wavering. At school, there’s Noah, a devastatingly handsome charmer who seems determined to help Mara piece together what’s real, what’s imagined—and what’s very, very dangerous.” I liked this book a lot. At first, I wasn’t sure why one of the subcategories for the book was “paranormal.” It takes a little while for the reveal of what is actually going on in the book. It takes the reader just as long as it takes Mara, I guess! This is the first book in a trilogy, so obviously it ended with a cliffhanger. It’s a good one too! I am looking forward to reading the next book.

1) What are you currently reading? Tell us about it.

My copy has a different cover, but it’s a cute book with the story written in a series of emails, phone messages, journal entries, etc. I will write about it more when I finish it!

2) Summer is just ahead and my fav thing to fantasize is laying in a hammock with a good book. What are your top 3 fav “summer” reads?

3) What are your top 3 summer “to-reads”?

4) What book do you wish they’d make into a movie?

I think I may have mentioned before that I’d love to see 11/22/63 by Stephen King made into a movie. Either that or a TV miniseries. I think it would be awesome!

5) Has your favorite author published a book lately or going to publish a book soon? Tell us about it.

As you can see above, Jodi Picoult’s newest is on my to be read list! I almost bought it the other day, actually! Maybe I will buy it soon. I very rarely buy new books, but I do have 3 hardcover Jodi Picoult books on my shelf that I bought when I couldn’t wait for my turn at the library!

What’s on your to be read list?

I'd like to read Fly Away. Looks like a good one and several other Literary Junkies have recommended it. I've read Every Boy's Got One by Meg Cabot but don't think I've read Boy Meets Girl. I like Meg Cabot's writing style. :)

I've tried to win a copy of Castaways. No luck yet and I've tried to win others by that same author. Not luck yet. Only way I can get books is by trying to win em and do reviews in return. if you know of any sites I'm open to ideas. Thanks.

I've heard so many great things about Mara Dyer. I haven't read it yet, but it's definitely been on my to-read list for a while now.
