Over the next few days I will be introducing a variety of moms that I have met through blogging. I asked them all a series of questions and have loved reading their answers – so I hope my blog readers enjoy them too! I am calling this series “A Mom a Minute.” Today, let’s spend a minute with Jennnifer from Part of That World!
Tell us about your kids – how many, boys/girls, names, ages, etc.
I have one daughter, Emma Grace. She is 1 year old. I also have two teenage stepdaughters, Gabbie (15) and Jordan (13). They don’t live with us though.
What are your kids into right now? TV Shows, music, movies, toys, books, etc? What are their favorite things?
Emma is completely infatuated with Sofia the First. It is so cute how excited she gets when she sees her. We got her the plush doll, a bag and a nightgown with her on it for her birthday and she got so excited! I loved it. Her favorite books are How Do I Love You, I Love You Through and Through and Good Night, I Love You. All are drawn by Caroline Jayne Church. We love reading these to her every day. She likes playing with balls right now, walking around, getting into everything of course!
What kind of activities are your kids involved in? If they are too little for activities, what do you think you might want them involved in when they are older?
Emma isn’t involved in activities. I do want to bring her to some Gymboree classes one day or to our libraries functions for babies. I do hope she wants to dance when she is older. I would love to see her do ballet or something like it.
Gabbie is in her high school band. She loves it.
Jordan does dance.
Where have you gone with your kids that you’d recommend to others? Children’s museums, amusement parks, vacations?
Unfortunately, we haven’t gone many places with her yet. I hope we will soon. We will try to take her to The Central Park Zoo this year.
Amusement parks for the teens is definitely a great choice.
Are your kids picky eaters or do they eat whatever you make them? What are their favorites?
Emma isn’t picky yet. I hope she stays that way. I was a picky eater, but she is eating so well. She loves her veggies! Her favorites are mommy’s pasta & sauce, spinach (in the pouches mixed with fruits) and peaches.
What is your mom super power?
My mom super power would have to be breast feeding I guess. I didn’t think I would go so long doing it and I still am!
What is your biggest mom challenge or struggle?
My biggest struggle is being a working mom. It is so hard leaving her (even though she is with daddy all day) and working away from her. I miss her like crazy and just love spending all of my time with her.
What has been your biggest surprise as a mom – something you do that you didn’t think you would ever do or something you just didn’t expect?
The biggest surprise for me as a mom would have to be how long we slept with her in our bed. She just started sleeping in her crib at the end of March. I do miss her next to me though! I loved cuddling. I should have known I would love that!!
Give us some Mommy advice!
The only advice I can give is to not stress the small stuff. I love spending even the smallest moments with my baby and I hope she knows that she is the most precious gift to me ever. Also, don’t let others who judge, get to you. You are a mom and do things your own way!
Don’t forget to visit Jennifer at her blog! And come back for more mom minutes later this week!
