Over the next few days I will be introducing a variety of moms that I have met through blogging. I asked them all a series of questions and have loved reading their answers – so I hope my blog readers enjoy them too! I am calling this series “A Mom a Minute.” Today, let’s spend a minute with Breenah from By Breenah!
Tell us about your kids – how many, boys/girls, names, ages, etc.
A girl Quinn – 1.5 years.
What are your kids into right now? TV Shows, music, movies, toys, books, etc? What are their favorite things?
She loves “melmo” aka Elmo, The Lorax, and most PBS shows. She doesn’t really pay attention through any entire episode though. She’s recently very intrigued by the plastic Easter eggs and loves putting things in and out of buckets and bowls, when they’re not on her head. She loves listening to dance music. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit she loves dancing to Thrift Shop, the edited version.
What kind of activities are your kids involved in? If they are too little for activities, what do you think you might want them involved in when they are older?
I’m pretty sure my husband wants her to take guitar lessons and I think she’ll like anything music based, so we might try dance. We’ll have to wait until this fall though since she’ll have to be 2 to join any of the places around here.
Where have you gone with your kids that you’d recommend to others? Children’s museums, amusement parks, vacations?
The zoo, definitely. Any zoo, but our local one is pretty awesome and cheap compared to some I’ve seen. And if you’re limited for time and/or money, the pet store. She doesn’t yet understand that you could possibly take the pets with you, so there’s no fussing about that.
Are your kids picky eaters or do they eat whatever you make them? What are their favorites?
She’s pretty picky. She doesn’t really eat meat and doesn’t usually want to eat whatever mommy and daddy are eating. She’ll eat mac’n’cheese, grapes, cheese, and blueberries without stopping though. And she loves the fruit pouches.
What is your mom super power?
Pretty sure I got skipped over when they were handing those out.
What is your biggest mom challenge or struggle?
Definitely figuring out when she’s throwing a tantrum because she’s misbehaving and when it’s because she’s just frustrated because we don’t understand each other.
What has been your biggest surprise as a mom – something you do that you didn’t think you would ever do or something you just didn’t expect?
I didn’t expect just how crazy it would be to have a kid. I thought I’d get used to it and it’d be no big deal, but it still surprises me day after day that I actually have a kid and she’s growing and she’s flipping adorable.
Give us some Mommy advice!
Get a sleep schedule ASAP. Don’t hesitate to ask for help or to just do it. Doesn’t matter if you’re co-sleeping or not, just get a freaking schedule. We didn’t and it’s the only thing I REALLY feel like I’ve done wrong.
Don’t forget to visit Breenah at her blog! And come back for more mom minutes this week!
