Because of the cost involved to fly home the Sunday immediately after Thanksgiving, we extended our vacation through Tuesday morning. Therefore, we decided to take Monday as a family day in New York City. It’s funny – I attended grad school in NYC and was there two days a week for two years. I didn’t often play the tourist and even though I never lived in the city, it was sort of home for those two years. Now, I go back and do touristy things! This day began with a ride on the train.
We walked by Macy’s on our way to our first destination…
The Empire State building! It was my 4th time going up – I went once in high school, once in college, and once in grad school! I love it. And the kids were very excited about it too.
On the elevator. I just remembered that the first time I was there I had just watched the movie Speed. LOL.
At the top!
Simon started crying – I think he was cold and also tired.
After the Empire State Building we stopped at Starbucks! And then it was on to our next tourist destination – Rockefeller Center!
The tree was not lit, but it was there. It looked bigger than it really was. No one was skating because the Zamboni was out! Gabbie really wanted to see the ice skaters so we appeased her with the Lego store model.
Just kidding. We actually did see a few skaters.
We don’t have a kid named Schuster but we did have a sleeping Simon!
Not to worry, he awoke for our next destination. Last year, I scored a free ticket good for ten years to ride the Ferris Wheel at the Times Square Toys R Us! This was our second time using it.
After Toys R Us it was time for lunch. Sorry to say I did not take a picture of my $17 sandwich. All in all it was a fun day in New York City!
