Way back in July, I posted about my search for dresses for my brother’s wedding. I didn’t end up buying any of the dresses in that post! (Well, I bought one and returned it). I found the dress I wore at the Nordstrom Rack and apparently it is such an old style that there are no pictures of it anywhere on the Internet. Unfortunately I didn’t get any good pictures of it at the wedding either! But I did want to do a bit of a fashion post all about what we wore to the wedding.
First up – nails! Gabbie, my mom, and I went with Sara and her bridal party to have our nails done the day before the wedding. I picked a silver and Gabbie picked a red, both by OPI – I can’t remember the names!
I was lucky to have been selected to receive a Beauty Blogger VoxBox from Influenster, which came shortly before the wedding – the perfect time to use the products that I received! Here is what I received in my box:
-Vitabath Fragrance Mist
-Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin
-Bath & Body Works Mini Candle
-NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact
-Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit
-EBOOST – the orange packet – it was torn open and had spilled out on my other items! It went straight in the trash.
-Not Your Mother’s® Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream
Gabbie and I tried out some of the products before the wedding and I used some for the first time at the wedding (well, actually the night before for the rehearsal dinner!) and here is a quick summary!
The Vitabath Fragrance Mist that I received is called Citron Leaves. I used it a few times and while it smells nice, I am not sure if the scent lasted, but then again I only sprayed it on my neck and not on my whole body like the description suggests: “Layering your favorite fragrance will keep you feeling flirty-fresh all day! After your shower or bath, spritz on a revitalizing fragrance mist from head to toe to lightly scent your skin. The revitalizing, weightless formula infused with conditioning vitamins and our unique antioxidant blend keep skin feeling healthy and happy.” Gabbie asked to try this product as well and she felt grown up with it on. We did not bring this along as it wasn’t necessary to our attire that night!
The Goody Spin Pin claims to do the work of 20 bobby pins! “Easily achieve chic updo styles; simply twirl your hair up and spin the Spin Pins in for a perfect top knot, undone bun and side bun!” I was excited to try this but since I just had a haircut, my hair is too short to gather into a bun! Gabbie’s hair was long enough, but too thick for a complete up do, we felt. This is what we came up with:
We did have some trouble keeping the pins in for longer periods of time, but when I did Gabbie’s hair for the wedding I was careful and I think it turned out quite nice. The bottom pictures were taken the following day since I forgot to get close-ups of her hair that night! Gabbie’s dress was from David’s Bridal (the color Apple to match the bridesmaids) and her headband is from her dance recital! Her shoes were from Target.
We obviously didn’t bring the Bath and Body Works Mini Candle with us. I am also not much of a burn-a-candle-for-no-reason type person, so I haven’t tried out the candle yet. I got the Black Pepper Bergamot scented candle. “Intricate layers of spicy black pepper combine with uplifting bergamot and lavender in a fragrance inspired by fall’s changeable days.” It smells nice enough, but like I said, I haven’t lit it yet!
I was excited about the NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact. The “all-in-one compact gives you everything you need for a complete eye look: primer, illuminator, applicator and complementing shadows. With four vibrant colors designed for your eye color, you can create a look as individual as you are!”
I have actually used this brand of eye makeup before, and as someone who does not normally wear makeup, I appreciate the diagrammed instructions included with the compact. Here I am before applying any makeup:
And after:
See any difference? Me neither. So either I really don’t know how to apply eye makeup or this makeup is not very obvious or dark. Oh well. I also had brought along the Kiss Ever PRO Lash Starter Kit, but I was too scared to use it! I was afraid they would pop off in the middle of the wedding or something. Reading the reviews at Influenster, it seems many people said they do stay on. I will have to work up the nerve to try them!
As you can see, I have pretty curly hair. I was excited to try Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream. I have been using a hair cream by Garnier Fructis and comparatively I did not find this one better or worse. I love the smell of it though (Grapeseed and Jasmine)! I did not bring this product to the wedding and instead stuck with my regular hair products.
The final look:
And if I get access to more pictures, I will certainly show you more and better views of the dress!
